I have an idea for a startup that involves uploading cover versions of songs to a website.

I'm aware that youtube has had some trouble with this kind of thing, but wouldn't it be feasible to come with some sort of agreement with the recording industry to make this possible? Would this be prohibitly expensive?

Or is this sort of thing in a juridic grey area where nobody knows what's wrong or right?
